Confidential / Primea Facey ‎– Jam The Frequency / Jet Black At Birth (Catt Records)

East London-based Catt Records is best known for Exocet’s 1989 bleep classic ‘Safety Zone’, but its back catalogue is filled with gems from an era when UK dance music was a melting pot of influences. This 1990 double-header is a case in point. Confidential’s ‘Jam The Frequency’ is a haunting pirate radio classic, part trippy techno, part wayward bleep. Primea Facey’s ‘Jet Black’ then comes on strong like a lost Cabaret Voltaire cut, its dark machine funk accentuated by an array of samples.
